Mathilda Bateast

For 50 years, Mathilda Bateast has been a familiar face and a steady source of support at FMOL Health | Our Lady of Lourdes. As a supply coordinator, her dedication, kindness and willingness to help others have made her an important part of the Lourdes family.

A Place to Call Home

Mathilda began her career at Our Lady of Lourdes on May 31, 1976. Five decades later, the relationships she’s built with fellow team members remain the reason she continues to serve.

“It’s home,” Mathilda says. “Working with my coworkers, we are a family. Togetherness.”

Throughout her career, Mathilda has found fulfillment in working alongside her colleagues and supporting the people who care for patients throughout the hospital.

She also credits her supervisors with helping guide her over the years, ensuring the work gets done and encouraging her continued growth.

A Legacy of Kindness and Dedication

Ask Mathilda’s coworkers what makes her special, and they’ll tell you about her remarkable work ethic, calm demeanor and willingness to lend a hand.

One longtime colleague, who has worked alongside Mathilda for more than 40 years, describes her as someone who leads by example.

“She is always calm and willing to assist in any situation,” the colleague shares. “She sets a fantastic example of respect and hard work for everyone around her.”

Another coworker, who affectionately calls her “Til,” says Mathilda is known throughout the hospital for helping others find the supplies they need, even stopping what she’s doing to lend a hand.

“Til gets along with everybody, will always stop and listen to you if you’re missing something and will stop what she is doing to help you track it down,” the colleague says.

That spirit of service has helped Mathilda build lasting friendships and become someone her colleagues can always count on.

Celebrating Five Decades of Service

For Mathilda, reaching 50 years is an opportunity to reflect on the experiences, lessons and relationships that have shaped her career.

“To me, this milestone is not just about what I have accomplished, but also about the person I have become throughout the journey,” she says.

As she celebrates this remarkable achievement, Mathilda remains grateful for the coworkers who have become family and the opportunity to continue helping others.

After five decades, her commitment to serving with kindness and great love continues to inspire those around her.
